Born into a seafaring family, Captain Shachar “Shack" Ben-David spent his youth in Israel and England sailing small boats and listening to the tales of the sea from his grandfather and great uncle. Upon moving to the United States he enlisted in the Coast Guard where he would serve as navigator and deck officer aboard a wide range of vessels for over twenty years.
